SimSightline / iRacing FOV Calculator
iRacing FOV Calculator
iRacing has its own FOV calculator inside the sim. This page tells you exactly what to type into each of its fields, so pressing Compute gives you the right field of view the first time.

How to set FOV in iRacing, step by step
iRacing measures field of view horizontally, in degrees. In the current interface the settings live in the Display tab. You do not type the FOV directly: you describe your monitor, enter your viewing distance, and iRacing computes the FOV for you.
- Open Settings (top right), go to the Display tab and scroll down to Monitor.
- Set Monitor Type to match your setup. For triples choose 3 Flat Screens or 3 Curved Screens.
- Enter Monitor Width. Measure edge to edge across one screen, not diagonally, including the bezels. The calculator above shows this value for you.
- On triples, enter Bezel Width for one edge only, not both added together, and Angle between center and side screens.
- In the Field of View Calculator section, enter your Viewing Distance (eyes to the centre of the middle screen) and press Compute. iRacing fills in Field of View When Driving.
iRacing triple screen setup
Switch the calculator to Triple and add your bezel width. The result card then lists every field iRacing asks for, in order. A few things are easy to miss:
- Angle between center and side screens is how far each side screen is turned in from a flat line. The calculator gives the angle that makes each side screen face your eyes square-on. Set your monitors physically to that angle, then enter the same number.
- Turn on Render scene using 3 projections. Without it, iRacing ignores the side angle and stretches one wide image across all three screens.
- On an NVIDIA card you can also enable Nvidia Simultaneous Multi-Projection to reduce the performance cost of three projections.
- Run iRacing in windowed mode spanning all three screens, or use NVIDIA Surround or AMD Eyefinity for exclusive full screen.
After changing the side angle, press Compute again so the FOV updates. The triple screen angle calculator has a tape-measure check to confirm your physical angle.
Why iRacing uses horizontal FOV
iRacing describes your view by its width. Assetto Corsa, ACC and Le Mans Ultimate describe it by its height. That is why the same screen gives about 53° in iRacing and about 31° in ACC. If you copy a value between games, check which one it is. The main FOV calculator shows both side by side for your setup.
Fine-tuning on track
Press [ and ] to nudge FOV up or down while driving. Change your seat position separately so the virtual steering wheel lines up with your real one. If the calculated view feels too zoomed in, try a few sessions before changing it. If you still want to see more, moving the screen closer keeps the view at real scale.
iRacing FOV FAQ
Is iRacing FOV horizontal or vertical?
Horizontal. iRacing's FOV value is the horizontal angle in degrees. Assetto Corsa, ACC and LMU use vertical FOV instead.
Should I use iRacing's built-in FOV calculator?
Yes, it is accurate when its inputs are right. Most wrong results come from entering the diagonal instead of the width, leaving out bezels, or adding both bezels together. This page gives you each input already measured correctly.
What angle should my triple screens be at in iRacing?
The angle that makes each side screen face you square-on from the same distance as the centre screen. For three 27-inch screens at 60 cm that is about 53°; for 32-inch screens at 70 cm it is about 54°. Select Triple above for your exact number.
Why does iRacing's FOV differ from other calculators?
iRacing measures the full monitor width including bezels. Calculators that use only the picture width show a slightly smaller angle. Both are correct for what they measure; use iRacing's Compute result in iRacing.
How do I change FOV while driving in iRacing?
Use the [ and ] keys to step FOV up and down on track.
